  1. My ponytail palm is over 30 years old. It’s over 8 feet tall and has new growth in 2 places. I’d like to cut it down. How do I do that?

    1. You can cut back a ponytail palm, even one that large. Use clean, sharp pruning tools and cut the trunk at the height you want—just above a growth point if possible. Make one clean cut. The plant will sprout new shoots from below the cut over time. Keep it in bright light and avoid overwatering while it recovers. Ponytail palms are tough and usually bounce back well!
