  1. Very informative, thank you.
My Weeping Fig was planted in a old pickling pot many years ago. I an not sure what was put in the base so can’t comment if it has good drainage. It it in the east corner of our living room and does get lots of indirect light. The temperature is good. I am not sure if I am over or under watering as I do get some brown leaves. I would like to know if I can mix up the soil and add some perlite to ensure better drainage. It is a very heavy container and I don’t think I can manage it.

    1. It’s great that your Weeping Fig is getting good light and temperature! If the pot is too heavy to move, you can gently mix some perlite into the top few inches of soil to help improve drainage, but this won’t be as effective as repotting. Be careful not to disturb the roots too much. For watering, let the top inch of soil dry out before watering again—brown leaves can be a sign of both over- or underwatering. If possible, check if there are drainage holes; good drainage is very important for Weeping Figs to prevent root rot.
